One Trick BMW R100GS

I found John Munger's bike at CalBMW in Mountain View, CA in July of 1996 where I had stopped to have new tires mounted on my R1100GS (just visible in the background of photo #2) after attending the '96 Joust near San Luis Obispo.

This bike had so many trick bits and design changes I just had to photograph it. A short time later an issue of San Francisco's CITY BIKE free monthly newspaper had an article on the owner. The bike was also featured on the cover of the Sept'96 issue of BMWRA's ON THE LEVEL.

The forks, instruments, lights, handlebars, controls, front wheel, subframe, seat, rear shock, exhaust, battery and dozens of other components have all been changed. The bike went from 520 lbs down to 395 lbs in the process.

The bike is similar in many ways to some of the trick BMWs shown on accessory maker and bike builder HPN's Web site in Germany.
