The weather forecast was not looking good for the long weekend.  This would turn out to be a GOOD Thing(tm) later, but I shouldn't get ahead of myself.

Kari and Ben invited us to meet at their place in Sebastopol for breakfast Friday morning. Can you say RIDE TO EAT? :-) On my way north on 101 I was slowly catching 3 motorcycles riding together ahead of me.  As I got close to my exit, I see the three take the same exit ahead of me.  As I caught them at the next intersection, I could see it was Jim, Laurel, & Bob-O. I brought up the rear just like I'd been there all morning.

We found Kari & Ben in their new kitchen cooking a GREAT breakfast! Sam & Ben's Mom rounded out the breakfast group. The house remodel had progressed greatly since the last time I was here. We almost got too comfortable, but before naps could get a hold of anyone, we slipped out the door. THANKS Kari & Ben!!!

We motored up 101 to the Chevron station in south Cloverdale. Joanne joined our group there, and we rode towards the coast on 128. It was cloudy, but no rain or wet roads.  Not much traffic on 128 either so we enjoyed the twisty bits over the hills.

Boonville came & went.  Shame the Horn of Zeese is a Taqueria now.  :-(  A couple of miles past Navarro, we stopped at the Flynn Creek Road turn off to re-group.  Joanne led the way north on Flynn Creek to Comptche. I had a deer cross the road in front of me after Joanne went by.  I nailed the brakes and watched her BOING away.

Comptche-Ukiah Road to the coast was next and as SWEET as always.  It flows so nicely, and was dry the whole way!  Up through Mendocino & Ft. Bragg, the traffic was light. There was clouds overhead and fog over the ocean, but we were still dry! Next was Hwy-1 up to Leggett.  Yum-YUM!!!

We stopped for gas and lunch in Garberville. We just got into the Woodrose Cafe before they stopped serving lunch.  YES!!!  Great food, desserts, & coffee!

I led the group up to the exit for Mattole Road, and then pulled over in the Avenue of the Giants.  We de-geared and took a short hike to the biggest WOODIE they had ever seen!
