I've never owned a dual purpose that was this much fun to ride and had such great street manners. I went to the 2002 Honda Hoot in Knoxville and it was nice to be riding something where I only saw one other like it the whole time and it wasn't the same color. While everyone else was finishing up the day rides on the paved roads I took of to Big South Fork National Forest and ran the fire trails. What a great combination of street and trail the Transalp has!

Added a ScottsOiler for the chain maintenance. Replaced the 'HotGrips' with Symtec 'HandWarmers'.

Problems:
None yet, but PO just had one of the CDI units replaced. New info 2006: CDI boxes were replaced along with new holders. Old style allowed the boxes to warp when riding, thus cutting out ignition. This stranded me 20 miles from home. No problems since then. (updated 1/25/2009) I hate Ethanol fuel. Thankfully, clear fuel is available.

Comments:
PO installed a taller hand-formed windscreen. I cut it down a bit, as the wind hit me right in the face. Not a pretty sight, but it works. This is a fine bike for exploring Forest Service roads and mild off-road dirt trails. Not for mud or hard dirt bike trails. I love how this bike handles gravel. Lower the tire pressure, and it floats.

Have now adjusted the valves, replace the plugs and discovered a modified air filter using a sock in place. Will be replacing that with a K&N. New front brake lever, battery, fork seals and gators. Stuff seems expensive but so far my Honda dealer has everything I've asked for. Looking for decals soon as she is going to need paint.

649 KM - 15.05.01 - Speedometer Wheel Gear Sensor broke. 2955 KM - 10.08.01 - While washing the bike found that the left radiator cowling lower screw was missing so went to the dealer and installed new one. Still great riding!!
