Bill,
I just changed my oil yesterday and this worked perfectly for me. Are you sure you are using the correct amount of oil?? I dislike tha partial amount you are supposed to use. I used 3 quarts plus about 21 oz of a 4th quart. It ended up right in the middle of the sight glass. I have, years ago, put four quarts in with no issues. YMMV.
